Quote
Steven Paul "Steve" Jobs (February 24, 1955 – October 5, 2011) was an American computer entrepreneur and innovator. He was co-founder, chairman, and chief executive officer of Apple Inc. Jobs also previously served as chief executive of Pixar Animation Studios; he became a member of the board of directors of The Walt Disney Company in 2006, following the acquisition of Pixar by Disney.
In the late 1970s, Jobs—along with Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, Mike Markkula and others—designed, developed, and marketed one of the first commercially successful lines of personal computers, the Apple II series. In the early 1980s, Jobs was among the first to see the commercial potential of Xerox PARC's mouse-driven graphical user interface, which led to the creation of the Macintosh. After losing a power struggle with the board of directors in 1985, Jobs resigned from Apple and founded NeXT, a computer platform development company specializing in the higher-education and business markets. Apple's subsequent 1996 buyout of NeXT brought Jobs back to the company he co-founded, and he served as its interim CEO from 1997, then becoming permanent CEO from 2000 onwards. After resigning as CEO in August 2011, Jobs was elected chairman of Apple's board of directors and held that title until his death.
In 1986, he acquired the computer graphics division of Lucasfilm Ltd, which was spun off as Pixar Animation Studios. He was credited in Toy Story (1995) as an executive producer. He remained CEO and majority shareholder at 50.1 percent until its acquisition by The Walt Disney Company in 2006. Consequently Jobs became Disney's largest individual shareholder at 7 percent and a member of Disney's Board of Directors.
On October 5, 2011, Jobs died in California at age 56, seven years after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

The world really did lose a great innovator.
It really is sad, and if you think about it, what has Bill Gates done.

Xbox, and stolen DOS to create windows.
He sucks at speeches and presentations, now Steve stole many programs but he still made some pretty ingenious devices.

You guys are fucking idiots if you think Bill Gates hasn't contributed positively to the world of computers (and the world in general, ever hear of the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation?).

I hate Apple products. They are overpriced shit that is only sellable because people are too stupid to run a normal PC properly. Think about Apple's business model for a second "Ok our products use internals identical to any consumer PC, usually with lower end stuff, we charge twice as much for it, and all our programs are proprietary to us despite only having like a 10% market share." How the fuck does that work? (the answer is everything noncomputer Apple does aka iPhone and ipod). Despite those feelings Steve Jobs was an amazing innovator and a huge loss to the computing world.

Exactly this, plus in the news here they were comparing him to the inventor of the car, steam engine, and even a war leader.
RIP But I think people are really exagorating his worth.

Get out.

Bill Gates has donated unbelievable amounts of his wealth to charities, malaria research, everything. He's not a bad guy, stop being ignorant.

Steve Jobs cancelled all philanthropic activity in Apple when he resumed control in '97, and he was abusing Chinese labor. Yeah, such a great guy.

why did you revive this? just because a few idiots said something doesn't justify it
it's very clear that media likes to over exaggerate everything and steve jobs didn't invent all of it himself, just because he was the CEO doesn't mean he created all of the Apple products and he hated charities by the way.

It takes a bit of time, hopefully it doesn't do what I think it will do, but I'm confident that everything myself and others have said would happen, probably will happen. Like I said, we'll see how it goes.
