Half-Life 2: Wars is a modification for Valve Software's Half-Life 2, and runs on the latest version of the Source engine (Orange Box / Source 2007). The basic premise of HL2: Wars is to create an original RTS in the Half-Life 2 setting, adding new ideas of our own while staying within the relative boundaries of the HL2 universe's established canon. At present, the mod is its early stages yet and has been in development for about a year. The current public release is Beta v0.5 (download) which is singleplayer only. Future releases will greatly redevelop and change many aspects of the gameplay.Requirements:- Ownership of Orange Box / Episode Two- Half-Life 2: Episode Two installed- Orange Box SDK Base (in Tools) installedCurrent Features- Functional RTS Interface and HUD- Play as Resistance or Combine- Rudimentary Basebuilding- 3 Missions (training, sands, crashed)- NPC Antlions and Zombies- RTS Minimap- Orange Box SDK- Fog of War- Unit Abilities- Tech / Research Tree- Map Objectives- Resource Control Point System- Improved AI and navigationThe Future for HL2:WarsCurrently, we are hard at work on the next public release, which will include fully functional multiplayer skirmish support, including a traditional RTS-style game lobby. We are also heavily engaged in fleshing out and designing the gameplay, now that the mod is at a point where we can begin to focus on game design. Expect a new, more complex and sensible resource system, as well as a new hierarchy of structures, units, abilities, and research. Further down the road you will also see a singleplayer campaign, but we are focusing on multiplayer first. There will also be a huge host of code tweaks, bug fixes, and optimization for the AI and navigation. The scripting language Python has been implemented since our last public release and is now used to define much of the mod code, allowing for ease of customization. Beyond that, who knows!
There's been nothing new to this project since "JANUARY 7, 2009, 12:08 AM"It seems dead, but i hope not, cause i played this a long time ago and it seemed so damn awsome
