Creedence Clearwater Revival: Fortunate Son

I was thinking roleplay wise, WW2, meh, WW1, dull, WW3, ehh.. All of a sudden, I turn on my WMP, then I hear Fortunate Son by CCR. I picture the Vietnamese war. Think about it, the in-depth roleplay of the tragic times of 'Nam.

A good map would be CS_Jungle. The map would have to be dimmed down quite a bit to CS_Aztec's level. There would be two factions, Vietcong, and the US Army. There would be pot-smokin', body's flyin', it would be amazing, if there are a different map you know of, we would use that. This would probably be the very first vietnam roleplay server on Garrys mod! There would also be other things, like CIA, specialists and other things. Think about it everyone, if we get enough support maybe something will happen!

This could either work, or horribly fail into poop like many things.

A idea is give ideal into the deeper facts of the war like the drug abuseing and stuff like that. I am not sure how this would really play out though and if it would even work.

Not sure how you would reall setup a meaning of in-depth roleplay which you would need villagers many different American forces as well as several hostile Vietnaminese forces.

To be honest i'd rather prefer a WW1 or WW2 serious roleplay. Vietnam would be cool, and I like how you actually post your thoughts on the forums. But I think LE already has enough on the plate as it is.

I'd prefer WW1 over any war roleplay scenario, because WW2 has been done dozens of times and Vietnam consists only of jungles which I passionately hate. Don't know, kids, but Jake thinks this won't work very well.

Bad idea. Just guys with guns shooting the crap out of each other. Outside of the shooting it's lots of walking and sleeping for the US Army. For the NVA, lots of sneaking about and waiting. Any villagers just sit and watch.

For the US, it's a game of hide and seek in an entire country, except when you find them, you shoot the fuck out of them.
For the NVA, it's basically the waiting game, except you shoot once it's over.
For the villagers, it's like watching two people play a game of Rock-Em' Sock-Em' Robots, except they only hit each other once a week.

Overall very boring, with not a lot of good roleplay.

In my opinion World War 1 would add more RP, because (no joking) on Christmas, both sides stopped fighting at least for one day. Imagine Germans and Americans singing Silent Night in both German and English. That're few of events there of course.

War RP? meh, don't see the benefits to be honest. You can hardley RP the battles, it would just be roleplaying writing To a wife or something...just play a military simulator and come up with a new idea for RP, of course this is just my opinion, War RP wouldn't work.

Some of you don't seem to understand, there would be scouting, yeah just not much shooting. I don't see how hard that is to see. You roleplay playing cards, smoking, bah. Whatever you are just blind.

I'm not sure about you, but I think this a good idea as long as you focus on less war and more social RP. A little battle RP would be nice, but you have to get down to the core. Drug abuse was prevalent, so where Vietnamese prostitute sellers. It'd also have a lot of passive in the base, talking, training, drills, etc. etc.

As a civilian, the Viet Kong would probably control your village, as they weren't the best people in the world, there'd be a lot of secretive and depression RP. Also, fleeing from the village as the US attacks.

As the Viet Kong, it would be guirella, and secretive RP. You'd probably spend most of your time keeping the village down, or in the tunnels under the ground RPing with your fellow Viet Kong. Once you find the US, you'd launch small, but effective, attacks on them, and run away shortly after.

If you have every watched Full Metal Jacket, there where field reporters there, Reporter RP would be interesting. I'd reccomend watching FMJ before downing this idea.

You can't do war RP for the simple fact that in war you tend to shoot the bad guys on sight. It doesn't work. The only way I could see this happening would be if everyone was on ONE side and then admins/NPCs played the enemies to keep DMing under control.

Only if it was PvE, not PvP. NPC's as enemies. There is a LOT of RP to be had while passive RP'ing in the base.

Starship troopers works. My point? Could be same as Vietnam. Just needs a good admin team to set up everything properly. As for the main base drill sergeant. Pick me, you won't regret it.

That is true but only because everyone is on the same side and the AI bugs are allowed to be stupid without breaking suspension of disbelief. I think some of the illusion would be lost in Vietnam because NPCs aren't all that intelligent and it would turn into mowing down human waves rather than playing hide and seek.

Not that that isn't fun, just that it's not really Vietnam.
