1st Special Forces Regiment

1st Combat Engineer Battalion

3rd Infantry Division

Ranks:

(The ranks above colonel cannot be used, unless for an event.)

Terrorists:

The terrorists are the designated "bad guys" of this RP. Their job is to defend the city. They blindly follow there god, and will do anything to please him.

Ranks:
Recruit, the basic grunt, lowest.
Soldier, still basic but hold the least amount of authority.
Officer, advanced, hold second most authority.
Leader, super advanced, authority over everyone.

Player Based Groups: Player based groups won't really work, unless you want to like, make a reporter or a civilian(Which doesn't fight.) or maybe even local militia that helps the US.

Please please leave suggestions to make this better, any downloads, suggestions, maps, weapons, models, any anything would be nice.

Call of Duty RP.

The two "good guys."

22nd SAS.
"Our brothers from Britain have deployed there Special Air Services to help us in the fight against the two opponents we have met. These men are the best of the best in England, they tend to deal with things more stealthy, seeing as they are special forces. Treat these men with respect."

1st Force Recon
"This is our guys, they deal with things in more of a brute force method. Don't mistake there methods for stupidness, these men are good in battle, and good in the mind, gear up soldier, time to go."

The two "bad guys."

Un-named terrorist group.
"For the lord! Men, if you join the lord will appreciate you always! This is us, our soldiers are fighting the good fight! Brute force methods apply."

Ultra-nationalists.
"The Russians, A good ally to have, they also use brute force methods, respect these men, and they will respect you."

Player based groups

Russian Loyalists
"These men are allies to America men, they stick with the Federation, these are our Russian buddies, treat them with respect."

I don't see how RP could come out of a war scenario...

Really it would be RP fighting unless STK was authorized really, passive could work if every side wasn't attack every god damn second, which isn't what I intended it on being.

Unless you just wanted to do events only, hosted by admins and we could fight NPC's, I know a server that does that and its pretty god damn fun.

Okay, but it needs to be realistic, half the ingame year you spend is out of combat, and at base cleaning everything, and engineers get to completely take apart all the equipment for it's yearly inspection. Oh wait you meant fake military.

It would be much easier to use the canon of Call of Duty, however this kind of RP is boring for the "usual" players.
What do you want the citizens doing?

This. You cannot RP open war with two sides. It is impossible. You CAN run open war against NPCs (see Starship Troopers RP servers) but I don't think that would work because AI tends to be dumb. In SST the AI can be dumb and no one will care since the bugs in the movies were dumb but terrorists need some measure of intelligence to get the feel right. Just play Insurgency, ArmA, or, god forbid, Call of Failure.

This is a good idea. It looks like our own "Starship troopers RP".
Civilians should be NPCs along with players selection if he wants to be one.
Terrorists can be players and NPCs with US soldiers all being players and using all sort of,
interesting and new helicopters and etc I've seen.

Now and then admins could make an event aka mission and the server would fill up.
To do the mission. After that people can either stay to passive for some time or just leave.
When an event isn't happening = passive or patrol.

You can actually have all sorts of playerbased factions.
The ones who want to help the US aka milita, the ones who only care for the civilians and,
fight both factions openly, etc. etc.

ANOTHER DAY IN ARMA 2: OA

I was playing in a "Realistic server". Anyhow, I was in a group of four. Our mission was to explore a village (Random objective). We left the base in a HMMWV and it was still daytime, by the time the sun hided we were still 4000 m off the objective and a civilian car passed by our right at full speed, we started to follow the car but it was using a route that was drying us from our main objective. When we arrived another city and the car stopped, I was speechless when we were greeted by enemy fire (Ak-47, RPG, RPK-74) and the people in the car were bad guys.

We all died.

No wonder you died, those where tactics of a dumb person + I don't want it in ArmA because only the more high end computers can play it, and my computer can't play ArmA.

Best suggestions evar, I suppose we could probably find some AI improving or something. I'll get right on that right now actually. Thanks.

Besides that, if someone could perhaps map for this idea? Right now all of the maps I have are either to small or REALLY BAD. Here are some specs I want:
Military Base:
- Military barracks, for passive.
- Parade ground, open ground with nothing on it.
- Outside shooting range, 4 targets, 4 rows, 1 target in each row.
- Medical building, for medics.
- Vehicle fixing depot, engineer's playground.
- War room, CO's plan any missions.
- HQ, CO's playground.
- Obstacle course, the basic stuff, example:


Call of Duty 1 - Mission 1 (training)

(Open to suggestions)

Terrorist controlled city:
- Vacant buildings, make it look as close to a home, shop, or anything else you can.
- Mosque, religion is big in the country.
- Government building, largest building in the city.
- Various wrecked cars, cover, and other things, make it look like the terrorists FOUGHT to control this city.
- Laundromat, you know they have these, right?

Also include in the map:

- Info nodes. So the enhanced AI will work.
- Jump nodes, if we have these, the AI can jump.

I would imagine that citizens would be SoS (Shoot on Sight) for terrorists, so really it would just be running from terrorists, I guess we could use Call of Duty canon if it worked, i'll try to get some content, learn more about the canon, and then i'll edit my first post with a different section.

Edit: I made the other section, its pretty much the basics, no maps though.

You apparently know nothing about "terrorists". The large portion of "terrorists" are CITIZENS and locals. The citizens would most likely welcome them, but stay neutral against the United States.

Oh, and the ignorance in this thread towards the militia organizations in iraq seriously pisses me off. Why don't you learn a think or two about the Iraqi Insurgency before you try to make an RP about it?

Here, I'll even enlighten you a bit. The "terrorists" that you are talking about, they consist of over two dozen different groups. Hell, you can probably find out about them just by searching on wikipedia.

SST worked because the AI could be dumb. I forsee that being a problem in creating a good atmosphere in GMod.
